Rabbi's Discretionary Fund
Welcome to www.RabbisDiscretionaryFund.org. This site is dedicated to the Rabbi's Discretionary Fund of Congregation Beth Aaron, an orthodox congregation in Teaneck, New Jersey. We hope this site will help enable friends, neighbors and members to help support the Rabbi's Discretionary Fund.
The Rabbi's Discretionary Fund or, RDF for short, provides humanitarian aid, to individuals and families in need, both locally within our community as well as in the greater area and abroad. It helps put food on the table for those in need, it helps families with overwhelming expenses, and always works in a private and respectful way.
Maos Chitim
Maos Chitim- The Rema, in Shulchan Aruch, explains the idea behind the time-honored tradition of Maos Chitim. We cannot properly celebrate the chag of Pesach without first providing the poor with their Pesach necessities. In fact, we can only fully rejoice with true simchas hachag when we bring joy to our needy brethren as well.
Matanot la-Evyonim
Matanot la-Evyonim- Gifts to the Poor. After the Jews were saved from the decree of Haman, they agreed “to observe [the days of Purim] with…donations to the needy” (Esther 9:22). Giving to the poor is a mitzvah all year round.
