Meet our Youth Directors

Leora and Zack Orenshein are excited to join the Beth Aaron community as Youth Directors. Leora graduated from Stern College and holds a master's degree in Gemara and Halacha from GPATS. She will be teaching Gemara and Halacha at Kushner High School. Zack has received semicha from YU and holds an undergraduate degree in psychology from YU. He is currently finishing his master's in Tanach at Bar-Ilan University. Both Leora and Zack work at Moshava Ba'ir, with Leora serving as Rosh Mosh and Zack as Rosh Chinuch. The Orensheins live in Teaneck with their daughter, Shalva.

Shabbat Morning Groups

Shabbat youth groups at Congregation Beth Aaron provide a supervised and structured informal learning environment that allows children to deepen their love of Judaism and develop a positive connection with the shul. Youth groups begin at 9:30 and end when the Main shul finishes davening.

They are broken down as follows:

  • Mommy or Daddy and Me (0- 3)
    Children have the opportunity to play with toys and other children their age.These children must be accompanied by a parent.
  • Nursery and Pre-K Group (3-4 year olds- must be potty trained) 
    Children in this group enjoy free play time, storytelling, singing songs, tefillah, snack, and an interactive parsha lesson.
  • Kindergarten Group
    Children in this group enjoy free play time, structured group activities, singing songs, tefillah, snack, and an interactive parsha lesson.
  • 1st and 2nd grade
    In this group, children further develop their tefillah skill, enjoy a delicious snack, and learn the weekly parsha through an interactive parsha lesson. Children also have time to choose a popular game or toy to play with a friend and have  access to our game room to play Ping-Pong and foosball.
  • Junior Cong. (3rd-5th grade)
    In this group, children further develop their tefillah skill preparing them to daven in the main minyan or the youth minyan. After tefillah, the Jr. Cong. Has a Kiddush with doughnuts each week. They learn the weekly parsha through an interactive parsha lesson. Children also have time to choose a popular game or toy to play with a friend and have access to our game room to play Ping-Pong and foosball.
  • Teen Minyan (starts at 9:15)
